A good night's sleep is the best feeling for any
person to have… it's what everyone wants. However, regularly
getting a great night's sleep can be quite the challenge. As a rule
of thumb, adults should be getting at least 7-9 hours of sleep a
night, but over a third of Britons only get under 6 hours of sleep
a night.

Over the years there have been so many secrets,
remedies and myths around the key to getting a good night's sleep.
Well, you'll be relieved to know that thanks to more thorough
research from the US, we may finally have an answer on how to get
the best night's sleep ever!

In the first
of its kind, US scientists have concluded that the key
to a full, restful night's sleep is having a purpose in life. They
found that those who have a positive attitude and something to get
up for in the morning reported fewer nighttime disturbances and
improved sleep quality. So, by simply going to bed at night being
positive about an aspect in your life, you could achieve a good
night's sleep.

In a new study, 832 people between the ages of
60-100 took part in a 32-question survey on sleep and 10-question
survey on purpose of life.
Those who felt their lives
had meaning were 63 percent less likely to have sleep apnea and 52
percent less likely to have restless leg syndrome.

Yes, this all seems easier said than done: nobody can be
positive all the time. However, according to our sleep expert, Dr
Nerina, this can be achieved by simply reflecting about your day
before you go to bed. It doesn't have to be anything extreme; it
could be something as little as a nice text message or a nice cup
of tea.

, putting your mobile phone down, and relaxing in peace
can help alongside this. Using your phone too much in bed results
in you being in your phone's constant glare, and this disrupts the
release of a hormone called melatonin, the rest hormone - and that
itself can alter your sleeping pattern. So, no more late night
