Divan bed

Your new bed has arrived, and there's a box in the hallway. Here’s the good news: Silentnight beds are designed to assemble easily, usually with nothing more than a screwdriver and a bit of floor space. 

These are our own instructions, written by the people who make the beds - so whether you're building a divan base, a bed frame or fitting a headboard, start here to be on your way to a cosy night’s sleep. 

before you start

Five minutes of preparation saves a lot of shuffling around later when you just want to get your bed up. 

  • Clear the room first. You'll need space to walk all the way around the bed, so move any necessary furniture out of the way before you bring the parts in. 

  • Build it where it's going to live. An assembled divan base won't turn easily on a landing or fit back through a doorway. 

  • Unpack everything and check it against the parts list first. 

  • Keep the packaging until you've finished - small fixings are easily thrown out with it. 

  • Have a screwdriver to hand. Most assemblies need little else. 

how long will assembly take?

Most Silentnight beds go together in well under an hour. 

  • Divan base: around 20-30 minutes 

  • Bed frame: around 45-60 minutes 

  • Fitting a headboard: around 10-15 minutes 

can I assemble by myself?

You can, but we'd recommend two people for almost assembly if possible. Not because the job is difficult, but because divan halves, bed frame side rails and mattresses are awkward rather than heavy - it’s far easier to line up and hold steady with someone on the other end. Headboards are much easier to bolt on with one person holding and one tightening.

if something’s missing or damaged

We do everything to ensure your delivery has everything you need, but on occasion something may be missing, and it's quick to sort if so. 

Don't start assembling if a part is missing or damaged - it's far easier for us to help with the bed still in pieces. 

Check the packaging first, as fixings packs are often taped inside the base or tucked under the slats. If it’s not there, contact us online or call customer service on 0333 123 0892 with your order number and the missing part, and we'll send a replacement.
