You should wait for 4 to 24 hours for a rolled memory foam mattress to properly expand; however, hybrid and latex mattresses are generally ready immediately. For latex-based models, it’s recommended to leave them to air out for a few hours before use.
Yes, you can sleep on an expanding mattress, especially if it’s a bed-in-a-box model. However, note that the mattress may feel notably firmer and less supportive during the first night.
A new mattress can emit a faint odour due to being compressed and sealed immediately after manufacturing. This process is completely safe, and the smell will fade by letting the mattress air out for 24 to 72 hours in a well-ventilated room before use.
The largest mattress size available in the UK is the super king mattress, measuring 180cm x 200cm. While super king is the largest size offered by Silentnight, some specialised manufacturers offer Emperor mattresses, which measure at 200cm x 200cm.
To stop a mattress from sliding off a bed frame, use a non-slip mattress pad or heavy-duty Velcro tape. Mattresses are highly prone to slipping if they’re worn out or aren’t identical to the dimensions of the bed base.

To claim against the 5-year or lifetime guarantee you will need the following: Proof of purchase or delivery, photographs of the full product without linen, images of the issue you’re concerned about and images of the bed base with the mattress removed
Only the rolled mattresses in our Sleep Now® range are included in our 10-year guarantee or by our lifetime guarantee if registered within 3 months of purchasing.
The Silentnight lifetime guarantee begins once the product has been registered.
Not included in the guarantee are: Products not purchased from silentnight.co.uk, exchanges based on size & colour, damaged products, warranty exchanges, mattresses used for less than 28 nights, mattresses used for more than 60 nights.
The guarantee starts as soon as your mattresses is delivered to your home.
The exchange can only be used once per purchase of a product. This means if you decide to trial a product you have bought and you decide to exchange it for another product, then the trial cannot be applied to the second product.

Pocket Sprung – Using a series of springs that act independently, these mattresses are the best for motion isolation and targeted pressure relief as each spring reacts to your movements or sleep position.
Memory Foam – Often compared to a deep hug, memory foam mattresses mould and shape to your body to keep you aligned and supported and relieve any aches or pains.
Hybrid – The best of both worlds, a hybrid mattress uses both a series of springs and a memory foam, gel or latex comfort layer to cover all grounds.
