Bed linen bed sheets are the answer to a space that’s inviting, comfortable and uniquely yours.
Thinking of a full upgrade? Dress a new duvet and pillow set with your stunning new linen.
Bed linen refers to the fabric casing that you put over your bedding items, such as the mattress, duvet and pillows. It’s a protective casing that also dresses the bed to help it look the part. Other variations that fall under the category are blankets and bedspreads which don’t require covering but are used to finish off the look.
Swapping out your bed linen as the seasons change will help you regulate your temperature, so you remain comfortable for a good night’s sleep year-round. You should opt for breathable and cooling fabrics, such as cotton and linen when the temperatures heighten – these materials are also hypoallergenic, which is ideal if you suffer from allergies. Once the temperatures drop again, that’s when you should look at thicker, well-insulated fabrics like faux fur and fleece, which will keep you cosy as you snooze.
If you have sensitive skin, it’s recommended you opt for materials like high-quality cotton as its breathable and soft, or fabrics specifically with a tightly woven construction. You should also look out for key words like hypoallergenic or OEKO-TEX® certified as these are kind to the skin. Avoid synthetic, rough or fragranced materials, and ensure you wash your new bed linen once it arrives to remove any chemicals from production.
A complete bedding set offers a duvet cover and either one or two pillowcases as standard, depending on if it’s a single bed set or larger. If single, you’ll receive one pillowcase to match the duvet cover; if double or larger, you’ll receive two pillowcases.
Bed linen should be washed at a warm temperature, from 40 degrees, to kill any bacteria. If anyone in your home has been unwell, we recommend washing your bed sheets on a hot wash to ensure any lingering germs are washed away.
