The higher the tog rating, the warmer the duvet
This is the simple rule you need to remember.
Tog measures the weight of the duvet. And as a general rule, you need switch between tog ratings across different seasons:
- Up to 7 tog: These duvets are ideal for summer months when you need to be cooler
- 7-10.5 tog: For the early spring and autumn months, these duvets will see you through
- 10.5+ tog: Beat the winter chill and keep snug with these heavy-duty duvets

Tips for using your electric blanket

We always advise buying a brand new blanket than a second hand option to make sure it’s in complete working order. Also make sure it comes with overheat protection.
Read the instructions
Before using your electric blanket, you should always read the manufacturer’s instructions – this includes the washing of the blanket.
Replace every 10 years
In general, you should replace your blanket every 10 years or when it shows signs of wear and tear, such as: creasing, loose connections, scorch marks, fraying fabric, dampness, worn flex, exposed parts or damaged tie tapes.
Roll it, don’t fold it
To avoid damage to the wires, make sure you roll your blanket when you store it away for the summer months, rather than folding it.
