Check out our guide for everything you need to know about getting the ideal pillow, duvet or electric blanket for your needs.

Why pillows are important

We’ve talked about how to find the ideal firmness rating for your mattress. But did you know the firmness rating of your pillow is also important?

This is because having the correct firmness rating for your pillow can help promote healthy spinal alignment and help you get a better night’s sleep.

Which firmness rating do I need?

The firmness rating you need relates to your sleeping position. Below is a quick guide on what you need.

Pillow fillings

As with mattresses, pillows also come with bespoke comfort fillings that help personalize your sleeping experience. We offer a range of fillings to suit different types of sleepers and sleeping habits.

Finding the perfect duvet

When it comes to choosing your duvet, choose wisely. From getting the ideal tog rating to choosing the perfect filling, your duvet can really enhance a night’s sleep.

The higher the tog rating, the warmer the duvet

This is the simple rule you need to remember.

Tog measures the weight of the duvet. And as a general rule, you need switch between tog ratings across different seasons:

  • Up to 7 tog: These duvets are ideal for summer months when you need to be cooler
  • 7-10.5 tog: For the early spring and autumn months, these duvets will see you through
  • 10.5+ tog: Beat the winter chill and keep snug with these heavy-duty duvets

Duvet fillings

OK, so now we understand what tog rating means, let’s move onto duvet fillings. The duvet filling you choose largely depends on your sleeping habits. We offer two types of duvet filling; hollowfibre and eco comfort.

Electric blankets

Get the most out of your electric blanket with these additional features that make bedtime that little bit cosier.

Key electric blanket features to look-out for

Heat settings

This lets you switch between different temperatures, so you can reach an optimum level of warmth.

Over-heat protection

This is a must on any electric blanket and makes sure the blanket automatically turns-off if any overheating occurs.

Dual control

Perfect for couples, dual controls lets you set a different temperature for each side of the bed.

Ultra-fast heat up

Getting warm under the duvet can feel like a lifetime on these chilly nights. The ultra-fast heat up feature will get you from freezing to cosy in no time.

Tips for using your electric blanket

Buy new

We always advise buying a brand new blanket than a second hand option to make sure it’s in complete working order. Also make sure it comes with overheat protection.

Read the instructions

Before using your electric blanket, you should always read the manufacturer’s instructions – this includes the washing of the blanket.

Replace every 10 years

In general, you should replace your blanket every 10 years or when it shows signs of wear and tear, such as: creasing, loose connections, scorch marks, fraying fabric, dampness, worn flex, exposed parts or damaged tie tapes.

Roll it, don’t fold it

To avoid damage to the wires, make sure you roll your blanket when you store it away for the summer months, rather than folding it.

Safety first

If you’re wanting your electric blanket to keep you warm all night, you should check it includes a special thermostatic control to make sure it’s safe to leave on.

Check cord length

One more tip to avoid a potential inconvenience; check the cord length of your blanket to make sure it reaches the bed.
