Your bedroom is arguably the most important room in the house – it’s the one you likely spend the most time in, and it should be somewhere you go to switch off, relax and drift off night after night.
If your bedroom is in need of a re-fresh, or you’ve just moved house and are starting from scratch, we’ve pulled together some things to consider to help you style your bedroom into the perfect sleep space.
Maximise the space you have
If you’ve got room for a King Size bed, go for it. 2 adults sleeping together in a double bed will have the equivalent of a baby’s cot each to sleep in, so where space permits a King Size bed and mattress will provide a much better night’s rest (and some room to wiggle, too). Outside of your bed, choose furniture to suit the size of the space – small furniture will look lost in a big room and you’ll find yourself trying to fill the space down the line.
Top tip - If your room has high ceilings, a taller headboard will help fill the wall space. Check out our range of headboards.
Think hard about colour
Choosing the colour of your bedroom and everything in it (walls/bedding/linen/accessories) isn’t a decision you should make too quickly.
Firstly, colours will look different in different room sizes and lighting, so just because that deep blue looked great on that Pinterest photo you’ve saved, doesn’t always mean it will work in your own bedroom space.
Choose a rough colour palette you like, and buy lots of tester pots to try on the walls first. You’ll be surprised how different a colour can look on different walls, even in the same room. Spend a few days considering the testers, and then make your final decision.
There are no rules when it comes to colour in your bedroom, it’s all personal taste. Choose a neutral colour palette if you prefer a soothing, more relaxed bedroom sanctuary or make it pop with a feature colour wall or bright furniture if you want a more colourful space. Our headboards and divan sets come in a wide range of colours, so why not brighten up your bedroom with our pink or ochre sets?
