In a hat-tip to the upcoming Academy Awards this weekend, we’ve dug deep in our movie libraries to find our favourite films with a sleep theme.
Sleepless in Seattle - 1993, IMDB 6.8/10 A romantic comedy drama starring Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan, where a recently widowed man’s son calls into a radio show in search of a new partner for his father.
The Big Sleep - 1946, IMDB 7.9/10 This film noir starring the legendary Humphrey Bogart as detective Philip Marlowe brought murder, blackmail and love to the silver screen.
Sleeping Beauty - 1959, IMDB 7.2/10 Disney’s classic animated fairy tail needs no introduction and is a firm family favourite. It was also the first Disney production shot in widescreen.
Sleepy Hollow - 1999, IMDB 7.3/10 - Oscar winner (2000 - Best Art Direction) Tim Burton’s iconic dark styling with Johnny Depp, Christina Ricci and Christopher Walken make for a thrilling fantasy horror. Not one for the little ones, but a firm late night favourite.
While You Were Sleeping - 1995, IMDB 6.9/10 Classic Sandra Bullock and Bill Pullman star in a romantic comedy about heroism, mistaken identity and consequences in a flick that will put you on the proverbial emotional rollercoaster.
We wish all of this year’s Oscar nominees the best of luck!
