No two babies’ night-time routine is the same. Whilst the first few months are plagued with trial and error, both you and your baby will eventually grasp a routine.
Silentnight sleep expert, Dr Nerina, warns that ‘lack of sleep is one of the biggest pains for new parents’. Establishing a sleep routine early on that benefits you and your baby will help you to get a great night’s sleep.
At Silentnight, we know the secret to a good night’s sleep and that’s why we have created a sleep timeline to help you understand what your baby needs:
0-3 Months
Your baby will experience some form of sleep-wake cycles (this won’t be a long stretch), with long periods of sleep taking place at night.
3-6 Months
Your baby’s routine is a bit more regulated during these months. But around this time you may find that your baby is getting restless; we recommend soothing them with a familiar toy or blanket.
6-12 Months
Your baby will start to become a lot more independent and aware of their surroundings. During this time your baby will go through teething and separation anxiety as they become more independent.
As you and your baby grow together, you’ll both find a sleep routine that works for you. You’ll go through trial and error in order to establish what works for you in order to get a good night’s sleep.
