Perseverance by parents to set up a regular bedtime routine
and sticking to it will ultimately be highly beneficial for
children, it has been claimed.

Sleep expert Sammy Margo said teaching children positive sleep habits when
they are extremely young can set them up for life to be full of
energy, well rested and productive during the day.

The best advice is to make sure distractions from the winding down
process are avoided where possible, while the bedroom itself should
be cool, uncluttered and quiet in order to promote a good night's
sleep.

"Establishing - how ever painful it is - a bedtime routine for
your children [is important]. There are a whole host of people who
are up at two in the morning and you think you are all alone," she
claimed.

Earlier this month, Healthcare Today reported research carried out
by the University of Seattle has highlighted a link between violent
media and the amount of sound sleep young children are able to
achieve.
