Bodily discomfort is the biggest physical problem in terms of
keeping people awake at night.

This is according to the Great British Sleep Survey, which found
67 per cent of respondents are frequently affected by the
problem.

It was followed by noise (36 per cent), a partner (34 per cent),
room temperature (34 per cent) and light levels (19 per cent) in
the top five.

This highlights the importance of taking time to make a bedroom as
relaxing and comfortable as possible, including the purchase of a
good bed and mattress to offer the right
support.

In terms of persistent thoughts preventing people from nodding
off, what happened today and what will happen tomorrow (82 per
cent) topped the list.

According to the study, poor sleepers are seven times more likely
to feel helpless, three times as liable to struggle to concentrate
and twice as prone to bouts of unproductivity.
