an introduction to the trend

In a world of multi-tasking and attention deficit, the art of focusing on a single act becomes precious. Adopting a more considered approach to living, householders design their homes accordingly, creating summer escapes for respite and focus.

An increasing number of reports indicate that modern day digital lives are having a negative impact on our attention span. In an effort to remedy this, consumers are deliberately seeking out opportunities to devote wholehearted focus to activities such as doodling, reading or simply making a cup of coffee.

Home décor embraces this new pace of life, where householders find inspiration in activities and environments that help them regulate and slow down.

inspiration and colour palette

Baked oranges, ochre yellows and faded apricot tones radiate the warm and relaxed feel of sun-soaked holidays. Use a soft blue grey or crisp white to create a more breezy vibe.

Crumpled, stone-washed linens, pale wood and dried grasses create a lived-in and laid back feel. Accessorise with items that have been lovingly created by hand, from hand-thrown ceramics to wicker and cane.
