Why are Silentnight mattress so firm? Firstly, I bought a Miracoil 7 Osbourne and it was not a silent night for me but a DISASTERnight, and then I changed it to Miracoil 3 with pillow top and it was still firm! I woke up and my whole body was aching! I will return this one too and never buy Silentnight!

Overall good quality but not as soft and comfortable as we were expecting. Disadvantage buying from Argos as you can't try it first and once it's out of the wrapper you can't return.

The best investment ever. It's my first super kingsize purchase and from the first night the sleeping experience is wonderful. While the pillowtop is firm it is very comfortable and there is no more back pain or discomfort. By far my best bed investment ever and recommend to anyone to try one. Only issue is getting out of it when the alarm goes off for work.

Bought an Oxford Pillow Top mattress from Argos. The mattress is comfy and soft with excellent springs providing comfortable base for a Silentnight sleep. Highly recomended as the pillow top makes the surface so soft that you hardly notice the springs underneath.

Wow lovely mattress, memory foam topper makes it warm and a little squashy, but the Miracoil base is firm. Excellent nights sleep. Despite the depth of the mattress it was easy to manoeuvre. Would recommend to those who like a firm mattress.

I am so so pleased I purchased this bed. Had to wait a little while to try it out whilst the room was being decorated but well worth the wait. It is extremely comfortable and I get a very good nights sleep. Previously have always had firm mattresses and this was a medium firm feel so slightly unsure but I needn't have worried. Would definitely recommend this bed and would also buy again when required. Also as the bed was on offer at Argos it was excellent value for money.

I bought this mattress because the filling of my old one had clumped and U could feel the springs poking me when I laid down on it. When it got delivered I couldn't wait to go to sleep on it, it looked so comfortable. When I did lay on it it was so comfortable and it was the best nights sleep I have had in ages. My girlfriend even says it is much better than her mattress at home. 3 months on it is still just as comfortable as that first night. Anyone considering this mattress should buy it.

After wondering what to buy for a child who had successfully "bounced" out of her cot- we happened upon this bed. Its comfort is outstanding- not too hard and not too squishy. Its anti-roll together feature doubles as an anti child rolling to the edge of the bed feature which we love- our daughter once a very active sleeper stays put for the night. Not only that we love the fact there is room for us to lie beside the little one on nights when she needs company to sleep- and even better if one or the other of us are kicked out of our own bed- its long enough for the 6 foot hubbie and comfy enough not to mind at all- in fact both parents are eager to volunteer the bed swap. All in all a fabulous bed and great value for money

Still early days but so far so good! Does not sag in the middle as our old mattress did, and cannot feel the springs in my shoulder. Now we'll see how well it lasts into the future. I'd have appreciated fabric handles on the sides to make handling easier.

I was after a firm mattress but despite Argos calling this a "medium/firm" mattress" I plumped for this as it was on special offer and other reviews I read complained about how firm the mattress is - so I thought it must be pretty firm. It is - I'd almost go as far as saying it is hard, but I like that and both my wife and I are sleeping well on it. No roll together and very limited transfer of movement when the other half rolls over.

Very rare I do a review on a product so this has to be good to get my fingers to the keyboard. I have suffered for a long time with back pain as a result of an accident I had in the forces many years ago but over the years it has got progressively worse and I feel my old mattress may have contributed to that. Purchased this from Argos over a week ago but only got the chance to road test it last weekend and have to say I was able to get out of bed without the usually strong aches and pains. It’s a real godsend and I have had several full nights sleep since, something I haven’t had for many years now. So, So, So glad I bought this and can’t recommend it enough if you suffer from back trouble.

Excellent mattress and it is very comfy indeed. Medium firm description is spot on. However this mattress is very thick and extremely heavy!!! Significantly heavier that a Silentnight it replaced - 31Kg for King size!

This is the first new mattress I have purchased in ten years, so the right selection was important to me, as I have a bad back, and I wanted quality and comfort.. I chose one that was semi-firm, and which had a good reputation. I found the mattress to be exactly what I wanted, and it had all the superior qualities that it had stated on the advertising brochure. After having slept on the mattress for a while, I have to say I am so glad I have purchased it. I get great relief for my back, and I have slept much better. The mattress is so well constructed and beautifully finished in high quality materials. I also noticed when there are two people on the mattress, there is a generous amount of room, and we do not roll together; which often happens with many other mattresses. I would highly recommend this mattress for someone looking for high quality and superb comfort at a reasonable price.

I took a chance and bought this product without trying it. I knew I wanted a medium to firm mattress. This bed was half price and I took a chance. I must say that it really is comfortable and easy to assemble. The delivery with Argos was trouble free and I am overall very satisfied. It comes with a five year guarantee also. It compares well with more expensive beds and its a safe gamble

What can I say, the bed is absolutely amazing. By far the most comfortable I have ever slept on, including high-end hotels. Making the step from a double bed to super king-size is one of the best things I have ever done, every night is so comfortable, plenty of space for both me and my boyfriend to stretch out. The no turn mattress is low maintenance and perfect. I love this bed, it was a great price and I have nothing negative to say about it

We are very pleased, indeed, with our new mattress. We were happy with our old one and only decided to replace it as we thought it was about time to get a replacement. Read other customer reviews before purchasing and decided to choose this one. I have not stayed in bed so long, it is so comfy, did not have to get use to it fell asleep straight away. I usually wake dreading getting up as my back would kill but I grudgingly get up now not because of a bad back because its so comfy my aching back seems to be a thing of the past and I have only had my bed 4 days would definitely recommend to any one with back problems I would give this product extra 5 stars.

I have an arthritic condition, which affects my neck, my spine and several of my joints, so a good nights sleep is not easily achievable. After much research into mattresses I decided on the above, and I am pleased to report that I am not disappointed, this mattress gives me the support I need for my neck and spine whilst still being soft enough for my sore joints. The anti-bacterial and anti bed mite properties of this mattress are also very important to me as I have various allergies. The mattress I bought was a pillow top mattress so I thought it was going to be really comfy, as it was half price in Argos, around £200 for a kingsize, I thought it would be good quality. It is good quality, but the only problem I have is that it isn't as comfy as I thought it was going to be. The mattress was to replace an exisiting Silentnight pillowtop mattress, I was a little disappointed that it wasn't as deep as the original, obviously it's a different model but I did expect similar depth. The pillow top isn't as luxurious as some either, in fact it is just some quilting on top. It is firmer than expected from the description ('medium'), but is comfortable, and was good value at less than half price at Argos. Wouldn't have been as satisfied had I paid over £500 to be honest. Definitely a good buy if you like a very firm mattress and want quality on a budget.

Very good mattress very comfy and with it being extra firm I thought I'd have problems getting used to it but none what's so ever I no longer wake up with aches and pains like my last mattress.......good value for money and highly recommended. Note though even though its a no turn mattress it is recommended to rotate it from top-to-tail periodically.

Hi my name is John. Three months ago my mum got cancer and had a big operation shes home now and on the mend but her bed is 20 years old and has been a nightmare for her each night. Yesterday her new double miracoil 3 oxford arrived and I put it up with my brother it was easy and looked fab last night. We put my mum to bed and it was great she slept like a log until morning. I had been looking for a new bed for sometime and was pleased to find that this bed was as good as the ones I tried out but were at least £200 more expensive. The base and drawers are solid and well made. I like my mattress on the firm side. The mattress is described as medium, firm. When I first saw in packaging it did not look that thick but once out of packaging it appeared to get thicker. It is very comfortable and supportive. Very pleased so far.

I decided to buy my 11 year old son a new mattress as his old one was well past it's time. I had treated myself to a Silentnight mattress a few months ago and it cured my backache and can honestly say I have never slept so well in all my life! So thought it'd be only fair to treat him to the same. Especially after he kept saying how comfy my bed was and how he wanted one just like mine! It arrived yesterday and he woke this morning saying he had one of the best night's sleep of his life. (which included a lie in, so a bonus for me) I can't recommend Silentnight mattresses enough and would never dream of buying any other make. Get one, you won't ever regret it!

Overall a very nice mattress. A fair bit deeper than our previous mattress, which meant when using a fitted sheet, it had a tendency to slip off (the sheet, not mattress). Design on the mattress neutral, not overly fussy, no decorative buttons etc. My partner and I both suffer from backache/sore necks/ shoulders etc. and although we didn’t buy this mattress as a solution to these issues, it has helped immensely. We have been using for just under one week and have already noticed a significant difference with regards to muscle tightness and feeling rested upon waking. This mattress is not overly firm (and VERY bouncy should you feel inclined to have a jump) but still very supportive; you certainly notice the 3 zones (in a good way!), which contributes to sleep quality. Given my partner wanted a firm mattress and I didn’t, the Paris Miracoil 3 Zone Latex on Sprung Edge Base suits us perfectly. The only thing I can think that would improve this mattress is handles to aid in lugging it up the stairs :)

My mattress arrived Saturday 27/08/2011, I assembled the new bed being excited with my new purchase . The bed was ready!!! I went to bed hoping this mattress would be ok (after all I had only briefly laid on one in the shop) the bed looked so inviting but I went to bed alone. I puLled back the quilt and climbed into my new sleeping experience. As i layed in bed, I could not explain the luxury I felt words cannot explain. I now realise what a "Good Nights Sleep" means I awoke lateer than usual, no aches, fully rested and ready to take on the world today, Just to say a big thank you to Beds for Everyone in Sheffield and a massive thank you to Silentnight. Hello, We recently purchased one of your Oxford mattresses. Well actually to be more precise my wife made the decision on which mattress we chose, as ever being the man of the house I usually find that my input on these matters is not required. I was initially sceptical having had a good poke at the newly delivered article, thinking that it felt a little too soft for my liking. Having suffered with a bad back for many years a good nights sleep is very important to me. I am of a size that is closer to the Hippo in your charming adverts than that of the Duck. We purchased this bed from Argos as we had been left some money to buy a new bed, and were after a Superking bed to fit us two and our two year old son in! We've had Silentnight beds before so we knew it should be a good bed. On first lying on it I was nervous as it seemed quite firm, but I awoke this morning from the best sleep i've had in years having no qualms about it whatsoever(and from a mum with a young toddler that is saying something!). Obviously it is large enough for the two of us, and the three of us on the occasions our son joins us - but its the comfort factor more than anything, Our previous bed had given me back pains most mornings but the Oxford ensure I awoke free from pain and refreshed. The no turn mattress is another godsend - especially considering the size of the bed! I was looking forward to my new bed being delivered. My first night in the new bed was very uncomfortable, something felt scratchy and irritating and then pricked me. I found there was what looks like a very thin piece of wire that was protruding from the mattress, I took it out with a pair of tweezers and will send it to Silentnight for them to check what exactly it is. Once I'd got rid of that the bed was very comfortable, thank goodness! The drawers aren't as deep as the ones in my old bed which is a shame.

excellent quality. I brought this for my daughter and the bed is so much higher than any other bed she has ever had.It looks very luxurious and the casters make cleaning under the bed easy. The mattress is quite firm but so deep it really was an excellent choice.

It take the first few nights just to work out the newness from the bed. The divan base I ordered was a 2 draw and the microcoil memory foam topped matress. the base is light and very easy to put the 2 pieces together. The draws have alot of room in them and gives plenty of storage space. The matress is very comfortable and as I said at the start takes few sleep to work in the groove ( you know what I mean). I have found the matress to be a little firmer than I thought it would be but again that might work its way in. This is a great buy well worth the cash.

I ordered this through Argos on the 27th May 2011 and had to wait untill July 12th for it due to a mix up with the administartion at Argos.We were sleeping on a bed settee for weeks which was very uncomfortable for the pair of us. However when we recieved the bed it was all worthwhile . We have never had a bed as comfortable as this and with it being superking we can spread ourselves across the bed with no problem.The result believe it or not is that we are having such a great and comfortabler sleep that we are waking up earlier than we used to and feeling extremely refreshed every morning. Thank you Silentnight for this beautiful bed.

Having bought a Silentnight double mattress a few years ago, I decided I would have a new single divan because of the comfort and value of my previous purchase. I am not disappointed. The only downside of the whole experience was that I was left on my own to attach the castors. It would have taken two minutes for the delivery men to do that. They said " it would give me something to do in the afternoon."
