Avoid battles at bedtime

16/01/2012

Avoid battles at bedtime Arguing is often a feature of family life, but any sort of confrontation should ideally be avoided before getting into bed.

Bedtime needs to be restful in order to improve the chances of sleeping, which means winding down and not letting arguments infringe on your thoughts.

There is an old adage that people should not go to bed angry, which may have more truth than first realised.

If a disagreement does arise before hitting the sack, then the best thing to do is address the issue and do the best to resolve it.

This principle works for children as much as adults, as problems can often arise when it comes to telling them to go to bed when they really don't want to.

Establishing some sort of calming routine, which may involve reading a book or having a bath, will help to calm them down and hopefully encourage them to sleep.
