Exercise can promote sleep while pregnant
04/01/2012
If you're expecting in 2012 and are finding it difficult to sleep, then some light exercise could be just what you need to rest more easily.
Louise Whyte, founder of Penelope Fitstar and a personal trainer specialising in pregnancy and post-natal exercise, suggested that mild physical exertion allows the body to wind down.
"Gets lots of fresh air and make sure that even if you are not sleeping well you are getting plenty of 'feet up' rest," she recommended.
If getting comfortable in bed is one of your main problems, then Ms Whyte advises getting hold of some specially-shaped cushions that can improve your position.
Once you've welcomed your new baby, there are a number of things to bear in mind, such as the temperature of their bedroom.
The NHS recommends a temperature of between 16 and 20 degrees C , as this will not pose a risk to your child's health.
