Resolve to have better bedtime routine in 2012
14/12/2011
It's that time again when you'll no doubt be looking to the New Year and deciding which resolutions you're going to stick to.
So this year, why not resolve to sleep better? With large amounts of people struggling to doze off at night, this could have all sorts of advantages.
There are plenty of ways to improve your quality of sleep, but one of the most effective is to establish a rigid bedtime routine to help you wind down at the end of the day.
Having a hot bath is a great option, as is enjoying a hot milky drink or herbal tea; caffeinated drinks should be avoided at all costs.
Regular exercise is another way to improve your shut-eye, although doing this too close to bedtime is not a wise idea as your body won't be ready to relax.
Another top tip is to avoid taking a nap during the day, as this will make it harder to fall asleep once night falls.
