Knowing how to get a good night's sleep can be tough, but there are some expert tips that should improve your quality of rest when it comes to bed time!
1. Exercise more
Getting your pulse racing with a short jaunt out and about increases your chances of dozing off when the lights go out. Experts recommend 30 minutes of exercise, five times a week, which will not only help you keep in shape, but could also prove worthwhile hitting the sack.
2. Avoid caffeine and nicotine
There are some chemicals that will make it harder to nod off, namely caffeine and nicotine. Avoiding a strong coffee or a cigarette too close to bedtime is therefore a good idea.
3. Cut out noise and light
Making sure a bedroom is conducive to sleep is essential, so cutting out any excess light and noise will likely make it easier to fall asleep at the end of a hectic day.
4. Set a routine
Having a bedtime routine is a good way to encourage your body and mind to wind down, so taking a hot bath or treat yourself to a hot milky drink before you go to bed - you may be surprised by how effective this can be!
5. Switch off the TV
Some experts claim light from television sets and other devices can inhibit the release of melatonin in the brain, which is the hormone that regulates sleep. Avoiding watching TV and reading a book instead should make falling asleep easier.
