Mattress choice could help with keeping warm this winter
25/11/2011
Individuals who struggle to keep warm during the winter nights may benefit from purchasing a new mattress.
The Sleep Council has offered its top tips for retaining heat, which include looking out for mattresses that have a warmer side for use in the winter.
Putting a fleecy underblanket on the bed may also be effective at keeping the heat in, as will ensuring the bed offers the correct level of support.
A saggy bed will prove uncomfortable and clammy, the organisation explained, especially if the room is far too warm.
Wearing bed socks is another great way of staying warm, as having warm feet will help make the rest of the body feel less cold.
Another tip from the Sleep Council is to wear night clothes such as pyjamas or a large t-shirt to keep warm, with natural fibres being much more insulating than synthetic materials.
