Increase floor space to make bedroom seem bigger

Creating more floor space by storing items in other areas is one of the most effective ways of making a bedroom seem bigger.
This is according to senior designer and art director at Egerton Designs, Alexi Sugden, who explained that it is important to clear the area around a bed.
One of the best ways to do this is to construct some shelves at a convenient height, she noted, with glass shelves one of the most attractive options.
"If you use a glass shelf, it doesn't draw attention to itself in the same way that wood does, because wood is just a block of colour," Ms Sugden explained.
Anyone who does opt for glass, however, needs to ensure it is thick health and safety glass, the expert added.
Susan Llewellyn, founder of the Susan Llewellyn Academy of Interior Design, recently advised the use of soft furnishings to give the home a more comfortable feel this winter.
