Exercise could be the key to decent sleep

Following official guidelines on the amount of weekly exercise that should be engaged in could help boost the quality of the time spent in bed, experts have claimed.
People are recommended to exercise for around 30 minutes per day, which can improve sleep quality by 65 per cent, found researchers at contributing to the Mental Health and Physical Activity journal.
The risk of feeling overly sleepy during the day fell by 65 per cent in those who exercised for 150 minutes per week, while the likelihood of suffering leg cramps also fell.
"We were using the physical activity guidelines set forth for cardiovascular health, but it appears that those guidelines might have a spill-over effect to other areas of health," said Brad Cardinal, a professor of exercise science at Oregon State University.
He highlighted that regular physical activity is a great non-pharmaceutical alternative to improving sleep and also people's concentration levels during their waking hours.
