Beds could pose a threat to allergy sufferers
21/11/2011
Beds may prove to be allergy sufferers' worst nightmares, as they contain large amounts of dust mites and other creatures that could trigger reactions.
This is according to a new study from Allergy UK, which found that more than half (59 per cent) of sufferers find their symptoms are worse in the bedroom than any other area of the house.
There are, however, various ways to tackle this, such as by purchasing new pillows every year - figures show that 25 per cent of people wait five years or more.
Replacing a mattress every eight to ten years is essential, but statistics from Allergy UK show that 13 per cent of people have had their current product for 11 years or more.
For a high-tech solution, homeowners may benefit from using an air purifier, which will help reduce allergens such as mould spores, pollen and house dust mite debris.
