Splashes of colour brighten up bedrooms

Although many homeowners are decorating the area around their bed with a muted colour scheme, splashes of colour are still being used, an expert has noted.
Hard financial times for the majority people have had an impact on the way they decorate their homes, explained interior designer Jo Hamilton.
As a result, she has seen a rise in the use of "beautiful inky hues" that are presented against the subtle backdrop of a scheme.
"We are still using brighter colours, but in splashes and accents rather than as the backbone of the scheme," Ms Hamilton continued.
The expert suggested that the use of a couple of striking pieces can really help to lift the overall appearance of a room.
Research from Nationwide recently established that creating an additional bedroom in the home could increase a property's value by as much as 23 per cent.
