British Olympians set to get ''best beds'' in Olympic Village
27/10/2011
British Olympic medal hopefuls are to have the first choice of beds in the 2012 Olympic Athletes' Village, according to sources.
Speaking to the Mirror, an insider at Team GB hinted at concerns about the risk of athletes losing sleep if they are positioned too close to the nearby Basketball Arena, which is expected to host games well into the night.
The source told the newspaper: "There is a big concern that the late-night finishes will mean a lot of noise in the Olympic Village.
"So it makes sense that Team GB athletes are looked after in the best way possible."
Blackout blinds and curtains are already thought to have been placed top of many athletes' lists of priorities.
Having a good night's sleep is widely known to have important implications for physical and mental health.
With many athletes set to face high levels of mental and physical stress on the track, many will be keen to ensure their Olympic beds are up to the job of supporting their rest between events.
