Burton businesses to shun beds for good cause

The business community in Burton has lent its support to a charity drive that encourages participants to shun their beds to raise funds for the YMCA.
This is the third year the sleep-out has taken place, this time running on November 11th at Burton Rugby Club's Peel Croft ground.
One of those signed up is Tom Keaveny from the Mercure Hotel in Newton, who explained to the Burton Mail why he has decided to take part.
He commented: "While times are clearly difficult for many businesses in the area, there are always others who are worse off, and Burton YMCA does a lot to help those very people."
Anyone who wants to participate in the charity drive is asked to pay a £10 registration charge, before raising additional funds through sponsorship.
A similar event was recently held at the Lakeside Village in Doncaster to raise money for South Yorkshire-based homeless charity Safe@last.
