Contrasting colours feature in British bedrooms

Many people are opting for contrasting shades when it comes to decorating the area around their bed, an expert has suggested.
Speaking at Grand Designs Live at the Birmingham NEC, colour expert at Dulux Louise Smith explained that colours tend to be refined, elegant and smooth.
"The palette itself is quite understated, which makes it incredibly easy to live with, but the materials are combinations of maybe concrete with copper, or porcelain with cork," she continued.
Ms Smith emphasised that cool, soft colours are typically used alongside warmer hues to create a real impact in the home.
In many senses, this marks a shift back to a minimalist trend, but without such a clinical appearance, the expert added.
Barbara Heilmann, a certified interior designer, recently told northjersey.com that muted tones are making a comeback in people's homes as people seek to change the mood of their properties.
