Put kids at ease in their children''s beds
07/09/2011
It is not uncommon for youngsters to feel agitated when they are left alone in their children's bed at night, but there are things that parents can do to ease their minds.
Walking around the room with the child and checking under the bed and in the wardrobes could be a good idea, as it proves to them that there are no monsters to be afraid of.
Giving them a cuddly toy can also help give them peace of mind, as they feel as though they have a companion throughout the night.
Listening to soothing music or reading a pleasant bedtime story is a great idea, mainly because this will make the child feel more at ease and therefore likely to doze off.
Dr Rhonda Patt, a paediatrician with Charlotte Paediatric Clinic, recently explained to the Charlotte Observer that parents should try and avoid reaching for medicines to cure their children's insomnia.
