Stress may not be behind a poor night''s sleep

A sleepless night may not be due to stress as many people believe, but rather the bed and mattress they are trying to rest on.
Nights spent tossing and turning are often owed to particularly stressful times, but the surface people sleep on is just as much to blame for much of the nation's insomnia.
One of the main problems that arises is choosing a bed without trying it out first, as not all makes and models will offer the same levels of comfort to every individual.
Back pain is perhaps the biggest problem for many sleepers, which in many cases is down to the wrong pillows and mattresses.
Another major issue is failing to replace a mattress often enough, as they will stop offering the right level of support after around eight to ten years.
Researchers from Glostrup Hospital in Denmark recently found that the yellowing of eye lens could be the reason behind elderly people suffering from insomnia.
