Mild sleep disorders ''should be treated''

Mild sleep disorders that prevent people from resting well on their mattress at night need to be treated by an expert, it has been suggested.
For example, mild sleep apnoea - where a patient stops breathing around nine times an hour - should be properly diagnosed by a professional, said sleep medicine specialist Dr Robert Rosenberg.
Answering reader questions on azdailysun.com, he noted that there may be other medical benefits from having a sleep condition treated, such as lower blood pressure.
Another condition that should be professionally diagnosed is restless leg syndrome, Dr Rosenberg highlighted, as it can easily be treated once it has been identified.
Experts from Glostrup Hospital in Denmark recently found that the yellowing of eye lens in elderly people could partly explain why it becomes more difficult to sleep with age.
This is a process that occurs naturally, making it more difficult for the lens to absorb blue light that triggers the release of melatonin in the brain.
