A mattress should be seen as an investment
26/07/2011
People spend more time on their mattresses than they may first realise, so settling for second best is simply not an option.
Considering around eight or nine hours a night is spent on a mattress, consumers need to view their new purchase as an investment that will affect their quality of life.
One thing to establish before heading online or to the shops is a budget, however, people need to make sure they are being realistic with how much they want to spend.
Cheap mattresses may have an appealing price tag, but the lost sleep that accumulates over the weeks and months will make the purchase far from a bargain.
It is also worth bearing in mind that a cheap mattress is likely to need replacing much sooner, which will just lead to more money being spent.
Experts also recommend avoiding second-hand mattresses wherever possible, as they could harbour all sorts of problems that are not apparent on the surface.
