Sharing a bed ''can be difficult''

21/07/2011

Sharing a bed ''can be difficult'' Couples who were sleeping in separate beds used to be frowned upon by society, but this is no longer the case, one expert has suggested.

The Sleep Council's Jessica Alexander explained that getting used to each other's sleeping habits is no easy task, especially if one person snores or tosses and turns all night.

"We did some research a few years ago and there [...]was quite a high percentage[...] who secretly wouldn't mind sleeping apart from their partner but didn't want to upset them," she continued.

Ms Alexander suggested that people are now becoming more aware of how important it is for them to get a good night's sleep, meaning they will take the necessary action to ensure they do.

This may involve sleeping in another bed, or investing in a bigger bed so each person has enough room to be comfortable without disturbing the other.
