Head to bed and keep headaches at bay
19/07/2011
Headaches can arise for all sorts of reasons, but in many cases they can be cured by making simple adjustments to everyday life.
Spending enough time in bed can be a great way of combatting the pain, as many people do not get the right amount of shut-eye they need to function properly.
Giles Elrington, a neurologist at the Barts and London NHS Trust and trustee of the London Migraine Clinic, noted in the Daily Mail that headaches can last just an hour or even a full day.
"Lack of sleep causes levels of the brain chemical serotonin - which plays an important role in the body’s sleep cycle - to lower, which brings on the pain," he explained.
Another prominent reason for headaches is dehydration, which Water UK reveals has affected at least one in ten people at some point in their lives.
