Ensure kids get the rest they need
14/07/2011
As the summer holidays approach, parents will no doubt be worrying about their kids staying out of their children's beds for longer.
With the evenings still being light and no school the following morning, the temptation to scrap the usual sleep schedule can be all too tempting.
However, kids need enough sleep to make sure they are both healthy and happy, so parents must ensure they put their foot down when it comes to establishing a bedtime routine.
The key is to make going to bed an enjoyable experience rather than one that fills kids with dread, as this will make them more inclined to take part.
In recent weeks, Seattle Children's Research Institute found that kids who are exposed to violent images before going to bed are more likely to suffer from disrupted sleep than those who watched age-appropriate content.
