Settling for second best is not an option when choosing a new mattress, especially when bearing in mind how many hours are spent sleeping.
There are quite stark differences in mattress price and quality, which consumers need to be especially aware of when making a purchase.
The important thing is to try out a mattress in person; the sales blurb may sound impressive, but unless it suits the individual perfectly, it could lead to some pretty sleepless nights.
If the bed is shared with a partner, it is essential to take them along, as a mattress can feel quite different depending on whether there is one or two people lying on it.
Anyone who buys a new mattress is urged to make sure they keep their linen clean, after research from SleepBetter.org found that significant amounts of bacteria may be living in it.
