Kids'' sleepovers could prove a nightmare

29/06/2011

Kids'' sleepovers could prove a nightmare Hosting a sleepover can lead to all sorts of worries for parents, especially if the children involved are likely to be particularly lairy.

One of the immediate problems is finding enough mattresses for the youngsters to sleep on, especially if space is limited or there are quite a number of kids to accommodate.

There is a novelty factor about staying up late at a young age, although parents are often left trying to encourage the children to go to bed so they can get some rest themselves.

Making sure the little ones avoid eating too many sweets before heading to bed is one way of keeping them calm, as is finding ways to keep them active, therefore running down their energy reserves.

A study carried out by the Seattle Children's Research Institute recently found that kids who are exposed to violent images before going to bed are likely to suffer from disturbed sleep.
