Hotel trials snore absorption room
28/06/2011
Couples who constantly interrupt each other through snoring while lying on their mattress may soon have their problem solved, thanks to one hotel chain.
Crowne Plaza is trialling snore absorption rooms in nine of its hotels across Europe and the Middle East, including its London the City establishment.
Sound proofing is being installed on the walls to absorb loud frequencies and deflect sound waves, while the headboard on the bed will be specially designed to reduce the echo.
Other features include an anti-snoring pillow and a bed wedge, which encourages snorers to sleep either upright or on their side to prevent them making too much noise.
Figures from the Snoring and Sleep Apnoea Association show that 41.5 per cent of the population snore, equating to around 15 million people in the UK.
It is more common in men, with 10.4 million males suffering from the problem compared to 4.5 million females.
