Simple steps can make sleeping easier
24/06/2011
Getting a good night's sleep on a mattress can be made much easier by taking a number of steps to improve the quality of rest.
For example, avoiding electronic devices that emit light from the screen, such as TVs and laptops, can help the brain switch off when it comes to bedtime.
Light has an effect on the brain that inhibits the release of a hormone that makes it easier to rest, so people are advised by experts to avoid such products at all costs.
Other common sense approaches to getting better rest include avoiding caffeinated drinks and heavy foods before bedtime, and staying away from stressful situations.
The adage of never going to bed on an argument may have more truth in it than people realise, as it can make the body and mind tense, therefore making it harder to sleep.
