Bed-related incidents on the rise
17/06/2011
The importance of choosing the right bed has once again been emphasised, as figures show that more people are falling out of theirs during the night.
Statistics from the NHS Information Centre reveal that between March 2010 and February 2011, 20,800 people visited accident and emergency departments as a result of bed-related incidents.
It seems that beds are not the only things that people are having trouble with, as falling from ladders and cliffs were also found to be common occurrences.
"Our figures show a rise in the number of hospital admissions for falls, from those who fall out of bed to people taking a tumble out of a tree," chief executive of the NHS Information Centre Tim Straughan commented.
Research Triangle International recently found that many people often choose the wrong bed for themselves, despite believing they have made the right selection, Furniture Today revealed.
