Mattresses must be suited to individual needs

There is no such thing as a mattress that will suit the entire population, the results of a new study from Research Triangle International show.
Participants were asked to try out a range of different beds, spending an average of four weeks moving between the seven products.
"In a large diverse population of participants that slept on seven beds with varying levels of support, the results showed that there was an equally diverse population of 'best' beds," commented the Sleep to Live Institute, which commissioned the research.
The team noted that people need to find a mattress that suits their individual requirements, Furniture Today reveals, with many participants mistakenly believing they had found the best model.
Results showed that consumers tended to choose beds that did not prevent them from tossing and turning during the night.
The importance of kids getting a great night's sleep was recently emphasised by the University of Michigan's Sleep Disorders Centre, which found that sleeplessness increases the presence of behavioural problems.
