Involve teens when changing bedroom design
25/05/2011
Giving teenagers an input in how their bedrooms are designed may help avoid tantrums at a later date, while also giving parents peace of mind that they will like the style of the space.
Selecting some funky patterns and colours can help transform a child's room into one better-suited to a teenager, as can addressing what the space will be used for.
This may involve adding a desk or study area, or even investing in some comfortable bean bags or chairs to give the teen and their friends a space to chill out.
It may also be a good time to think about buying a new bed and mattress, as the models that saw the youngster through the initial stages of their life are unlikely to still do the job.
Interior designer Jo Hamilton recently suggested that people need to add a sense of personality to their homes in order to stand out.
