CBeebies to help children settle at bedtime

Parents are being given a helping hand when it comes to encouraging their kids to sleep, as CBeebies launches a new programming schedule.
From May 30th, early evening programmes such as In the Night Garden and the Bedtime Story will be aimed at getting youngsters to wind down.
"We are always looking at ways to keep our schedule fresh and interesting for our young viewers without causing too much disruption to routines," said controller of CBeebies Kay Benbow.
She said that many families use the channel as part of their bedtime ritual, so youngsters will be able to get ready for bed with "some familiar friends" on the screen.
Parents were recently advised by the Pennsylvania State College of Medicine to keep an eye out for excessive sleepiness in their child during the day, as this could indicate wider health issues.
Researchers found that anxiety, depression and asthma could all be the cause of the doziness.
