Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star remains a bedtime favourite Despite being centuries old, Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star still remains a favourite bedtime nursery rhyme among modern children.

This is according to a new poll conducted by Disney Junior and Netmums.co.uk, which found that 46 per cent of people consider this their favourite children's poem.

The Owl and the Pussycat featured in second place, taking 23 per cent of the vote, reveals the Daily Mirror.

Other rhymes featuring in the top five were Popular on the Ning Nang Nong, If, and Us Two.

Netmums.co.uk website founder Siobhan Freegard commented: "Storytelling is a hugely important part of family life, allowing parents and their kids to spend time together."

Bedtime can often be stressful for parents, as a recent study by Munch Bunch books found that more than a third find it the most difficult part of their day.

It revealed that on average, it takes around 20 minutes to get a child to doze off.
