Parents battle with children at bedtime
12/05/2011
Encouraging youngsters to get into their children's beds can prove a difficult task, leading many parents to dread bedtime.
At a young age, going to sleep seems somewhat less appealing than staying up watching TV or playing computer games, although kids very rarely recognise just how important it is.
Some parents resort to bribery to get their little ones to head to bed, while others will try to be calm and collected as they try to encourage them to doze off.
Experts often recommend techniques such as having a strict bedtime routine in place to encourage a child to wind down, while others believe the carrot and stick approach works best.
A study by Munch Bunch books recently found that more than a third of parents believe getting their kids to bed is the most stressful task they face during the day, even more so than commuting to work.
