New mattress may eliminate sleep woes

Having the right mattress is not only the best way to eliminate aches and pains, but it can also help improve the quality of rest a person gets.
This is according to the Better Sleep Council, which referred to research showing just how important it is to select the most comfortable mattress.
Dr Bert Jacobson of Oklahoma State University published his findings in the Journal of Applied Ergonomics, which showed that the quality of a mattress can help eliminate soreness both during the day and night.
After purchasing a new mattress, 64.4 per cent of people identified that their overall sleep quality improved, while 62.8 per cent saw a reduction in lower back pain.
Meanwhile, 58.4 per cent found their back stiffness improved and 62.4 per cent were less affected by shoulder pain as a result of the new mattress.
In some cases, couples may find it beneficial to sleep on separate mattresses, especially if they have different views on how firm a bed should be.
