Babies'' sleep patterns often perplex parents

Trying to get to grips with babies' sleep patterns is often a difficult task for parents, especially as they can often be rather sporadic.
Some infants will wake up in their children's beds several times throughout the night, while others will generally rest through until morning.
Most kids, however, are a combination of the two, which can make it hard for adults to know whether or not they will get a good night's sleep.
Parents should not fret if their newborns wake up on a regular basis, as this is a highly common occurrence, especially during the first few months.
Earlier this month, the US Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a series of new mandatory measures to improve the safety of beds for infants.
For example, cots must have a guard rail where the upper edge is at least five inches above the toddler's mattress.
