Global pillow fight is a big success
12/04/2011
Pillows may be best suited to making the time spent in bed more comfortable, but people all over the world put them to a very different use over the past few days.
International Pillow Fight Day took place in major cities all over the world, including London's Trafalgar Square, where participants arrived dressed in pyjamas with pillows in hand.
The annual event first started in 2008 and has since gone from strength to strength.
This year saw pillow fights taking place not only in London, but also New York's Union Square, Sao Paulo and Washington DC, with many people hearing about the events on Facebook.
Homeowners are usually advised to have their pillows cleaned by a professional, as their filling can make it difficult for them to be dried out thoroughly.
The same goes for duvet covers, which are not easily placed in standard sized domestic washing machines.
