Technology takes its toll in the bedroom

If one partner chooses to stay up late using their laptop or other technology in bed, it can create strain in a relationship, a counsellor has said.
Amy Dickinson, who runs her own agony aunt section in the Chicago Tribune, explained that this can be particularly difficult if the other person enjoys getting uninterrupted sleep.
A reader wrote in to the publication to say his wife often works into the early hours with her laptop and TV on, mainly because she enjoys the cosy surroundings of the bed.
Ms Dickinson advised that people should make every effort to avoid using technology from the comfort of their bed at night, as it has a pervasive impact on both parties.
An article for the Financial Times recently said that a number of big-name businessmen are recognising the value of sleep and are therefore using monitors to ensure they get enough shut-eye.
