Students forego beds for charity

A team of students in Canada have decided to give up their beds in the name of a good cause, as they aim to raise awareness of homelessness.
The group from Carleton University will be going without their mattresses for a whole week as they sleep rough for Five Days for the Homeless, reports the Ottawa Citizen.
As part of the experience, the students have only eaten food that has been given to them and have taken up residence in a makeshift shelter outside Carleton's University Centre.
Participant Mark Featherstonhaugh told the paper: "Even after one night, I have such an appreciation for the struggles and hardships (homeless people) go through.
"Getting first-hand accounts of their experiences gave us a whole new perspective."
Radio 1 DJ Chris Moyles recently went without sleep to snatch the world record for the longest-aired radio show in aid of Comic Relief.
