Think storage in the bedroom
18/03/2011
Storage solutions are essential in any home to avoid clutter mounting up, an expert has said, which may be especially true in the bedroom.
Using up the maximum area available in any space is essential, which may include the use of a storage bed, suggested interior designer Mikael Berryman.
He pointed to the range of ingenious storage ideas that manufacturers have created over the years, reports the Independent, including a bed where its headboard can be used to stow items away.
Mr Berryman urged homeowners to consider Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs, as this will help them establish what exactly they need and what is more of a luxury.
For example, he highlighted that a mattress is an essential element of a bedroom, while cushions and decorative throws are a decorative addition.
Parents were recently advised by the Victoria Advocate to decorate their children's rooms in a way that will encourage them to learn, such as through putting maps on the walls.
