Hand-me-down mattresses could be harming kids
25/02/2011
Although giving children second-hand mattresses may seem like a good cost saving measure, it could in fact be damaging, one article has highlighted.
Youngsters who sleep on a hand-me-down mattress are not likely to sleep terribly well, the Star Global Tribune said, particularly as everyone's requirements are different.
"Parents often splurge on a higher quality mattress for themselves and hand down the worn out mattress for the kids," explained chief executive officer of Verlo Mattress Factory Stores Kurt Schusterman.
He suggested that by failing to invest in a new mattress for their offspring, parents are "depriving them of the important sleep growing kids need".
It was recently said by wcfcourier.com that people should approach buying a mattress in the same way they would any other big ticket item, as this will ensure they buy the best product for their needs.
Carrying out research will also pay dividends, the article pointed out.
