Double mattress turns heads in NZ
19/10/2010
A double mattress has appeared at one coastal location in New Zealand, much to the bemusement of locals.
Placed next to the Black Hole sculpture by Yin Xiuzhenn, the double mattress is presented as a piece of art to be admired, or even slept on, stuff.co.nz explains.
It has been given the name of Larry, with residents wondering whether it was a high-brow joke on behalf of the artist.
Vinny Thoumine, who lives in the local area, told the website: "I thought it was a bit strange. The only thing I could think of was it was being used by kids who weren't allowed to have a double bed at home."
Similar opinions were also expressed by Rod Wisnewski, who suggested the mattress would be best placed in a dump.
ABC News recently revealed that an art project is currently underway in Australia, with the artist using sleep graphs to create images.
