Change mattress to avoid back pain
18/10/2010
A new mattress could be the answer to back problems for many sufferers, it has been suggested.
In many cases, a medium-firm mattress is the most suitable, the Irish Independent explained, although there is no substitute for doing some research.
"Sleep in a comfortable position, although not on your stomach as it can cause you to arch your back," the article recommended.
It added that in the majority of cases, sleeping on the side in a foetal position with a pillow between the legs is the best option.
For those who do insist on sleeping on their back, a pillow under the knees can help realign the spine more effectively, the piece added.
Silentnight PocketZing mattresses were recently launched, promising to offer the ultimate in comfort and functionality.
They boast a Purotex cover, which helps keep bacteria to a minimum and promotes mattress freshness throughout the night.
